My maternal great grandparents were Mimmie Creer and Edmund Playfair. The Creers were a seafaring family, from
their roots in the Isle of Man, to their service in the Pilots , Merchant Marine and Australian Navy. Thomas Playfair came
to Australia with the Royal Navy, but decided to remain here, and set up with Edmund Bailey in the Butcher trade, establishing
a huge family business.
The common link between these families is Watson's Bay, where Joseph Creer was the commander of the Pilot Service,
and Thomas Playfair's company would have operated butcher boats, both meeting incoming ships. Edith Miriam Creer (Mimmie)
caught the eye of Thomas son, Edmund John Bailey Playfair, and the link was forged.

My site does not include information on living relatives. If I have inadvertently included information which is sensitive

Acknowledgments and Thanks
I would like to recognise the help given to me by several members of the Creer family. My deepest thanks go to Brad Smith,
who is relentless in his never ending pursuit of John Henry Needham Ferrers. Brad has shared all his research and pictures
with me, for which I am very grateful. Of course input has come from many family members, for which I also say thank
you.
Thanks also to John Anthony Creer, from Cheshire, whose Ballacreer web site has helped me to trace my Creer ancestors
further into the past, and has connected me with other family members who are as hooked on family research as I. John has
been generous with his own research, his web site providing a core of Creer information for all the Creer families around
the world.
I also thank John McAllister Creer, from Western Australia, whose diligent research into wills has found a link
between our families, and proved that we are, indeed, related! To see the Ballacreer and the Creer Wills websites
